The MAT Scholarship Fund, administered by the Legacy of the Dove Foundation, commemorates the legacy of Triumphant Soror Margrette Ann Taylor, a distinguished member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Rho Delta Zeta Chapter. Soror Taylor, a National Labor Relations Attorney for the federal government, passed away on September 6, 2000.
She was an alumna of Benton Harbor High School in Benton Harbor, Michigan, earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University in Detroit. In addition to her legal career, she was a dedicated community advocate and a prominent figure in local and national bar associations.
Soror Taylor played a pivotal role in establishing the Rho Delta Zeta Chapter and served as its first President. Her leadership and vision have left an indelible mark on the chapter, which continues to thrive and honor her legacy.
The scholarship in Soror Taylor’s name reflects her commitment to education and community service. It aims to support deserving African American female high school students in pursuing higher education and making positive contributions to their communities.
Each year, the scholarship benefits students from local high schools in Washtenaw County, with over $50,000 awarded so far in Soror Taylor’s memory.
